Rob Erschen

Rob is the founder and current president of J&R Rental. He is an East Dubuque, IL, native where he grew up and graduated high school. Rob then worked at J&R Supply for his father before founding J&R Rental in 2004. Rob started J&R and has grown it into the company it is today. Rob likes to spend his free time outdoors, either hunting, fishing, golfing, or watching dirt bike races. Rob’s favorite thing about J&R is the team of employees he has created.

Carter Widmeier

Carter is the stepson of founder Rob and works as the main salesman and accounts specialist at J&R Rental. Carter is an East Dubuque, IL native who graduated high school and plans to attend Clarke University to continue his basketball career and study accounting. Carter has worked at J&R since May 2020, where he started cleaning equipment. Carter likes to spend his free time golfing, playing basketball, or on the water. Carter’s favorite thing about J&R is the community involvement they engage in.

Mandi Erschen

Office Assistant

Mandi is the daughter of founder Rob and is the main office assistant at J&R. Mandi is an East Dubuque, IL native where she graduated high school. Mandi started working at J&R in high school, where she would wash trucks. Mandi then moved to Kansas City, MO, for a short time before moving back in 2019 to join the family business. Mandi likes to spend her time traveling, hunting, fishing, or hanging out with her dogs. Mandi’s favorite thing about J&R is the lasting relationships it creates with customers.

Tony Steiner

Office Manager

Tony is the office manager and a parts specialist at J&R Rental and has been working the longest at J&R among the employees. Tony is a native of Dubuque, IA, who graduated from Wahlert High School. Tony started working at J&R in December of 2011 and has worked here ever since. Tony likes to spend his extra time golfing, fishing, and going out to eat. Tony’s favorite thing about J&R is the people he gets to work with every day.

Nicholas Kluesner

Nicholas works as an accountant at J&R Rental and has been a part of J&R for a while. Nicholas is an East Dubuque, IL native where he grew up and graduated high school. Nicholas started cleaning equipment at J&R during high school in 2018 and continued to work while studying at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. After he graduated, he began working full-time as an accountant. Nicholas likes to spend his free time playing baseball, watching sports, and hiking with his fiancé and dog. Nicholas’s favorite thing about J&R is the family environment.

Gerry Hoppman

Gerry works as the service manager at J&R Rental and is an important member of the company. Gerry is an East Dubuque, IL native who attended and graduated high school. Gerry worked for Bird Chevrolet and MH Equipment before joining the J&R team in November 2019. Gerry likes to spend his free time camping with his family. When asked what his favorite part about the company was, Gerry said there’s no pressure working at J&R and that he enjoys the fact that they are community-orientated.

Chas McDermott

Chas is a mechanic at J&R Rental, specializing in small engine mechanics. Chas is a native of Louisburg, WI, where he grew up and graduated from Southwestern High School. Chas worked as a truck driver at Geisler Brothers Company and a mechanic at Sloan’s Implement before joining the J&R team in November 2020. Chas likes to spend his free time turning wrenches and attending auctions. Chas’s favorite part about J&R is being able to work in the field and facing challenges that test his mechanical skills.

Luke Hartmann

Luke is a J&R Rental mechanic specializing in large equipment and aerial lifts. Luke is an East Dubuque, IL native and graduated from Wahlert High School. Luke previously worked at John Deere Experimental and served in the Air Force as a B-1 Avionics Technician before he started working at J&R in October of 2021. Luke spends his free time outdoors, specifically hiking and camping. Luke’s favorite thing about J&R is the employees he gets to work with.

Chazz Zipse

Chazz is a mechanic at J&R Rental, specializing in small engine mechanics. Chazz is an Orfordville, WI native and graduated from Parkview High School. Chazz worked as a heavy equipment operator, landscaper, small engine mechanic, and metal fabricator before joining the J&R team in April 2023. Chazz likes to spend his free time fishing, hunting, racing, and participating in archery. Chazz’s favorite thing about J&R is that the J&R team truly cares about its employees and never takes shortcuts in making repairs.

Mike Weede

Delivery Driver

Mike works as a delivery driver at J&R Rental, specializing in semi-transportation. Mike is a Hanover, IL native, where he grew up and graduated from Hanover High School. Mike worked for the US Navy before joining the J&R team in September 2016. Mike likes to spend his free time going on adventures with his grandkids. Mike’s favorite things about J&R are the fantastic equipment, the great customers, and the teamwork that is completed every day.

Andrew Lange

Delivery Driver

Andrew is a delivery driver at J&R Rental, specializing in truck and trailer transportation. Andrew is an East Dubuque, IL native, where he grew up and graduated high school. Andrew started working at J&R during high school in 2016, cleaning equipment and rejoined the team in February of 2024 after spending some time working at G-Pro Underground Directional Drilling. Andrew likes to spend his free time in the woods hunting. Andrew’s favorite thing about J&R is when the boss cooks lunch.

Nate Wagner

Equipment Detailing

Nate works in the wash bay at J&R Rental and cleans/details the rental equipment. Nate is an IA native of Dubuque, currently attending Dubuque Senior High School. Nate previously worked at Perfection Concrete and Ainley Kennels before joining the team at J&R in March 2024. Nate likes to spend his free time fishing and working on his truck. Nate’s favorite thing about J&R is the opportunities he gets to operate equipment.
